PFC Lucas Bregg was assigned to 2nd Battalion, 5th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas. He attended Francis Howell High School, then finished his senior year and graduated from Wright City High School. He is survived by his mother Tracie Green from St Charles, his father Michael Bregg from Wright City, his brothers Zachary and Colton Bregg and his sister Taylor Bregg. His grandparents are Joe and Kathie Green form West Linn, Oregon and Alice Bregg from Texas. His aunts and uncles Ron and Kelly Davis, Steven and Emily Green, Joe and Michelle Green, Kirk And Rhonda Bregg and John Bregg. Cousins Amber, Dakota, Dylan, Alexa, Aubrienne, Isaiah, Atticus, Aquinna, Krystal, Austin, Tiffany, J.J., Brandon and great cousins Lilli and Liam. He died of injuries suffered in a non-combat related incident in Baghdad, Iraq on July 8th, 2009. He was 19 years old. He was due to come home in two weeks, on leave, and was going to be married. His fiancée is Courtney Broyles of Wright City. His procession from the airport to Wright City was lined with numerous people; including those from the Patriot Guard. During his procession the bridges and overpasses from Baue Funeral Home in St. Charles, Missouri to Wright City, Missouri were filled with people, firetrucks and ambulances. I heard it was said that no one had ever seen so many people in the small town of Wright City. Army National Guard SPC Mark Bartlett of Wright City said, "It shows alot about a community when they are lined up along the street like this." Nearly every emergency service department in Warren County participated in the July 16th processional. Warren County Alderman said of Lucas, "We owe him every bit of respect we can give him, and we hope it brings the family some comfort to see the community honor him." Lucas received the Bronze Star, Good Conduct Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Military Merit Medal and Top Marksmanship using the rifle. |
